MJ Hip Hop King
Welcome back to the Draft Pick Mix Show.

We are showing our love and respect for the King of Pop, Michael Jackson in our own way.

This is the first of 2 mixes in which we delve to the ‘bottom of the ocean’ so to speak, to retrieve the treasures lost with his passing. In fact, one could argue that hip hop sampling has been doing just that for decades. Most of his best loved songs have been sampled from producers across the world for a wide variety of different songs, from slow emotional ballards, to street anthems, underground lyric driven showcases to corny kiddie pop singles. We tried to include a bit of everything with this mix.

We have to shout out ‘The Are’ of K-otix for providing the inspiration with his mixtape on YouTube called ‘Dem Damb Jacksons’ and it wouldn’t have been possible to do it so quickly without the help of ‘Whosampled.com’, a truly amazing website for wannabe connoisseurs like us.

Cool songs to look out for are the Fabolous freestyle on Araab Musik’s beat, the Last Emperor’s verse, but best of all for me is our own Derek B. I remember taping that tune off the radio during the ‘Electro Show’ on Solar Radio with DJ Carlos. Great memories!

Enjoy!
