Fortnightly Reload 1
Every so often it is good to take a look at the game to see what is current, relevant and who is making the most noise. Before, the mixes had been geared towards exposing rare songs and unnoticed talent. During the monthly Draft Pick Mix Show period from 2006 to 2010, we had mainly underground artists on the show and championed the under hip hop movement, so when we were about to resume our work, we had a look and to be honest, it wasn’t difficult to make the decision that we need to do something else.
Of course, there is still (and always will be) raw underground heat, but there seemed to be so much more weaker product. The main reason that we favoured the underground was that there was a hunger in the artists and so the higher level of music coming out was plentiful and therefore easy to compile our mixes on a monthly basis. Not so now I’m afraid.
We took a look at the new sound, the mumble rap, the wave. At first it proved challenging to adapt, but adapt we did!
This is the first of ‘the adapted’ Draft Pick Mix Show intended to be done fortnightly, hence its title: The Fortnightly Reload.
We couldn’t forget the artists that frequented the previous shows so, Nas is on there as well as Sheek Louch and Trina, but we also put on some Travis Scott, Fetty and 67!!
Peace
