Welcome to another episode of the ‘Earl Grey’ series. With this one, we are focussing on the current trend of Charlatanism on social media. Who better to use as a case study than ‘Bitconnect’ and the one and only Carlos Mathos.

Exerts of his now, infamous speech in Thailand have been chopped and dropped in the brew so to speak. I would recommend that you google ‘Bitconnect’ if you have not heard of them before. They were a company posing as a force in the crypto currency scene, who would ask you to invest your bitcoin with them. After a few months, you were guaranteed huge returns on your investment. Sounds good doesn’t it, that is until you lose your money.

They were scrutinized by the U.K government as well as being issued a cease and desist by Texas State Securities Board. A few days later they would shut down. Those who were not lucky enough to withdraw their funds were left losing thousands. Some lost their life savings.

I like making money, but never at the expense of other people and there is a plethora of adverts on YouTube with people promising that they can make all your dreams come true…at a price of course.

For me, when it sounds too good to be true, it’s a scam.

Anyway, about the music, some of the best songs involve Ransom in some capacity. The Royce 5’9 verse is ridiculous. There’s some solid production from Kev Brown to look forward to and clever lyrics from Phonte. Tragedy Khadafi, DV Alias Khryst, Breez Everflowin and O.C all make strong contributions also.

One song that I keep playing back-to-back is ‘Championship Rounds’.
